That’s a Wrap for Summer 2023!
The Summer 2023 research program in the Follette lab has officially come to an end with the completion of two lab traditions 1) The lab BBQ at my house and 2) the annual summer poster session.
What a great group of scholars and humans we had in the lab this year! Many will be continuing with their projects into the fall, and we are very proud of all of the work that they did! What did they do, you ask?
A’Cora Hickson ‘25 and Marius Cotorobai ‘25 (not pictured) upgraded the pipeline and SQL database for our QuaRCS educational research study
Amy Zhang ‘25 and Bethany Martin ‘24 learned the ins and outs of the python spectroscopy software PypeIt and processed a whole bunch of Keck data of accreting brown dwarfs.
Josie Carillo ‘26, Courtney Reed ‘24, and Zoe Roumelitos (Smith ‘24), with the help of postbac Cat Sarosi (‘23), made a range of improvements to our lab’s multiwavelength database of resolved planet-forming disk images.
Kinsey Cronin ‘25, Jess Laboissiere (UMass ‘24), and Giselle Hoermann (UMass ‘24) learned the ins-and-outs of high contrast imaging algorithms and figured out how to apply some of them to microscopy images of seafloor rock samples.
Alex Del Franco ‘24 and Adrian Friedman ‘24 got head starts on their senior theses, and Jada Louison (UMass graduate student) chugged along on her graduate Initial Research Project (IRP).
